Glossary Terms

A brand of refrigeration unit mounted on the nose or under the floor of a reefer trailer. Thermo-King manufactures this unit.

An automobile addition or package including upgrades such as navigation, remote start, or customized audio. Abbreviated as Tech.

A third axle, usually with four wheels, mounted at the rear of a standard tandem. Typically a tag axle lifts up to be taken out of a load carrying capacity.

Rear doors on a trailer that swings open and closed rather than rolling up or down.

U.S. classification for passenger vehicle emissions. The classification is based on producing 90% less emissions than an equivalent gasoline-powered vehicle. Abbreviated as SULEV.

A partial support frame at the rear of a tank trailer or frameless dump trailer usually where the suspension attaches.

A stainless steel exterior on the front and rear of a trailer. Primarily used for physical appearance and is less resistant to weather damage.
